Billy Joel, the Piano Man, returned to Atlanta on Saturday night and electrified the sold out Philips Arena crowd with a set that lasted more than two hours. Joel was back in Georgia for the first time in eight years and it was like he'd never been away such was the reception he received from the crowd.

His enduring appeal is remarkable given that he relies on a catalog of music whose most recent composition is more than twenty years old. But the faithful fans that filled Philips reacted, like fans at all of his shows, to the fact that he is the consummate entertainer and also that his music stands the test of time. Timeless is an often over-used term but in Billy Joel's case it's a perfect description, his music is as relevant and compelling as ever. Furthermore his voice is as strong as it ever was and his enthusiasm on stage is unmatched.   http://boringthrill1835.exteen.com/20150503/5-things-that-will-reignite-your-creativity-on-the-acoustic-
Throwing into the set several songs relevant to Georgia residents didn't hurt either; "Georgia On My Mind", "I Feel Good", and "Midnight Rider" were all played and all received a euphoric reception.

Opening for Billy Joel was a strong set from Gavin DeGraw, and testimony to DeGraw's appeal, Philips Arena was quite full for the duration of his set. Splitting time between the piano and the mic stand, DeGraw repeatedly demonstrated that, despite already being a grammy-nominated artist, that his star is still rising.
